Campbell
Union School District is committed to the success of its gifted
learners. To this end, the differentiation of instruction is an
integral part of each school day, along with challenging opportunities
for GATE students to work together to extend their learning. Implementing
the GATE program is the shared responsibility of a partnership of
teachers, administrators, parents, and students. Additional emphasis
is given to equitable access to all, identification of underrepresented
populations, and focused staff development for every teacher.

Our Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program is designed
to meet the daily academic needs of eligible students in grades
3 through 8.
Developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills represent
essential components of the GATE program and help students
to become independent, life-long learners.
All classroom instruction begins with the California State
standards for grade-level core curriculum and is differentiated
based on the students’ needs and abilities.
In this way, the students are challenged on the same standard
by using materials and tasks at varied levels of difficulty.
What
is Differentiation?
Differentiation incorporates
the use of varied strategies and techniques to serve students
of different ability levels within the same class. Teachers
modify the curriculum for students through variations in content,
process, product and learning environment. In-class differentiation
is encouraged in all grades (K-8).
