Robert Causey, Committee Chairperson called the meeting to order at 9:05 A.M.

 

ITEM 1 –

CALL TO ORDER

 

 

 

Dale Thurston, Deputy Superintendent introduced Audrey Arancio, Monroe Middle School parent who was appointed to a two-year term by the CUSD Governing Board on September 28, 2007.  Mrs. Arancio fills the vacancy as per Education Code requirement for number of Committee members (at least seven) and will serve as a parent with children enrolled in the District.

 

ITEM 2 –

INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBER

 

 

 

Motion by Kawamoto, second by Kight and carried unanimously to adopt the agenda.

 

ITEM 3 –

ADOPT AGENDA

 

 

 

Motion by Kawamoto, second by Nishimura and carried unanimously to approve the minutes of the February 14, 2007 meeting.

 

ITEM 4 -

APPROVE MINUTES, FEBRUARY 14, 2007

ITEM 5.1 –

WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS

 

 

 

Deputy Superintendent Thurston provided information concerning San Jose Unified School DistrictÕs intent to use refinanced bonds for construction compared to CUSDÕs use of refinanced bonds to restructure debt.

Member Kawamoto reported that a draft of the 2006-07 Annual Report would be ready for Committee review at the August meeting. 

 

ITEM 6.1 –

ANNUAL MEASURE H OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE REPORT

 

 

 

Dale Thurston, Deputy Superintendent provided a status report on Measure H construction projects and responded to Committee inquiries related to the projects.

ITEM 6.2 –

MEASURE H PROJECT UPDATE

 

 

 

Committee inquiries were addressed under item 6.2, Measure H Project Update.

ITEM 6.3 – COMMITTEE INQUIRIES

 

 

 

The Committee reviewed the proposed quarterly and trimester meeting schedules and discussed which schedule would best suit the needs of the Committee.

 

Motion by Kight, second by Cibilich and carried unanimously to adopt the trimester calendar as listed below:

o      August 15, 2007

o      December 19, 2007

o      April 16, 2007

 

ITEM 7.1 –

MEETING DATES: 2007-08 OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE MEETING CALENDAR

 

 

 

By consensus of the Committee, the following items were added to the August 15, 2007 agenda:

á  Annual Measure H Oversight Committee Report

á  Expenditure Report

á  Update on Status of Bond

á  Update on Monroe Litigation

á  Update on Capri 

 

 

ITEM 8 –

AGENDA ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING

 

 

 

Dale Thurston, Deputy Superintendent conducted a tour of the Monroe and Castlemont school sites to allow the Committee to view the site improvements that were made possible through Measure H funds.

ITEM 9 –

TOUR OF SCHOOLS: MONROE MIDDLE AND CASTLEMONT ELEMENTARY
