District, Community to Celebrate Award-winning Student Authors – Wednesday, November 9, 2011
Campbell Union School District's 9th Annual Rising Young Authors celebration will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at 7 p.m., in the Barnes & Noble Bookstore, 1875 S. Bascom Ave, in Campbell.
The Rising Young Authors are a select group of students whose fictional short stories and poems were among hundreds entered in the DistrictÕs annual Writing Faire. Judges review the entries for technical excellence, focus, structure, use of creative expression, vocabulary, word combinations, and originality in ideas and/or presentation of ideas. Only one author is chosen per school per year in grades 3 through 7.
Last year, more than 170 parents, cousins, teachers, elected officials and school principals celebrated the CUSD Rising Young Authors at the awards and book-signing event.
Sponsors of the awards program include Campbell Union School District, Barnes & Noble, and the Assistance League of Los Gatos-Saratoga.
