Rationale:
(Pursuant to Govt. Code 54954.3(a), members of the public will be afforded an opportunity to directly address the Board on any item noticed on this Special Meeting Agenda before or during the Board's consideration of that item.  The law does not permit board action on any item not on the agenda, and restricts public comment at Special Meetings to items noticed on the Meeting's agenda.  members of the Public wishing to address the Board are requested to submit a form provided for that purpose in the lobby prior to addressing the Board.  In order to complete the business of the meeting in a timely manner, the normal time allotted is 3 minutes per speaker.  The board may use its discretion in differentiating from this time limit.)

5. SPECIAL RECOGNITION

5.1. Recognition of Classified Employees, Certificated Employees and Volunteers

Rationale:

Each year district managers and principals have the opportunity to select classified and certificated employees and volunteers who exemplify outstanding performance.

District managers were asked to nominate a classified employee in the following categories - office and technical, child nutrition, para-educator/instructional assistance, maintenance, operations and facilities, support services and security based on the following criteria:

  • Exemplary Work Performance
  • School/Community Involvement
  • Leadership and Commitment
  • Going Above and Beyond

Principals were asked to nominate a teacher based on the following criteria:

  • Communicates subject matter in an interesting, relevant, and effective manner.
  • Incorporates creative methods in classroom instruction.
  • Updates their own education regularly through classes, training and staff development programs.
  • Participates in professional activities.
  • Exhibits knowledge of major educational issues and trends.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the community by being aware of problems and participating in activities to resolve them.
  • Displays consistent evidence of student achievement (Standard 5).
  • Contributes to committees and leadership at district level.
  • Exemplifies the attributes of a “Professional Teacher” (Standard 6).

5.2. District Classified Employee Of The Year

Rationale:
After reviewing all of the nominations, the District’s Administrative Council chose an individual from each of the represented categories to be honored as District wide Classified Employees of the Year. These candidates will be submitted as our District nominees for the Santa Clara County Office of Education Classified Employee of the Year.

These nominees advanced to the Santa Clara County Office of Education's Classified Recognition program.

Tiffany Bui was selected as the Santa Clara County Office of Education Classified Para-Educator and Instructional Assistant of the Year and will advance to the statewide recognition.
5.3. District Teacher Of The Year

Rationale:

After reviewing all of the nominations, the District’s Administrative Council chose one of the nominees to be honored as the District’s Teacher of the Year.

5.4. District Volunteer Of The Year

Rationale:

Campbell Union School District students and staff benefit from the generosity and effort of individuals who collectively donate thousands of hours in order to enrich our students' school experience. 

Each year, our schools select one volunteer for the title of Volunteer of the Year.
