1. CALL TO ORDER

Rationale:

Anyone wishing to address the Board on closed session matters may do so at this time.


(Pursuant to Govt. Code 54954.3(a), members of the public will be afforded an opportunity to directly address the Board on any item noticed on this Special Meeting Agenda before or during the Board's consideration of that item.  The law does not permit board action on any item not on the agenda, and restricts public comment at Special Meetings to items noticed on the Meeting's agenda.  members of the Public wishing to address the Board are requested to submit a form provided for that purpose in the lobby prior to addressing the Board.  In order to complete the business of the meeting in a timely manner, the normal time allotted is 3 minutes per speaker.  The board may use its discretion in differentiating from this time limit.)

Rationale:

3.1. Field Trip Request: Monroe Middle School Band Students to Del Mar High School

Rationale:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Students in the Monroe Middle School music program will have the opportunity to be introduced to the band program at Del Mar High School and perform with the high school band. This opportunity will allow students to learn more about the high school music program, future concerts, and recruitment opportunities.

CHAPERONE RATIO: 1:8

TRANSPORTATION:

Students will be driven to this event by their parents.



 
Minutes:
Approve the field trip requests for approximately twenty-five students from Monroe Middle School to participate in a music performance at Del Mar High School on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.
3.2. Field Trip Request: Monroe Middle School Band Students to the Music Festival at Milpitas High School and Great America

Rationale:

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Students in the Monroe Middle School music program will have the opportunity to play a concert before a panel of judges. The performance is in front of expert musicians who give students feedback and rate the band in competition. They will receive tapes of judge comments to be discussed following the trip and a score/trophy based on their skill level. Following the music festival, students will be awarded with a day in Great America.

Chaperone Ratio: 1:10

The students will be chaperoned by Jay Mason, Monroe Middle School Music Instructor and parents.

Transportation:

Transportation will be by district bus. The bus will be funded by Friends of Monroe Music Booster Club.



 
Minutes:
Approve the field trip request for approximately eighty students from Monroe Middle School to participate in the "Music in the Park" festival ceremony that will begin at Milpitas High School and end at Great America Amusement Park in Santa Clara on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
3.3. Field Trip Request: Monroe Middle School Choir Students to Del Mar High School

Rationale:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Students in the Monroe Middle School choir program will have the the opportunity to be introduced to the choir program at Del Mar High School and perform with the high school choir. This opportunity will allow students to learn more about the high school choir program, future concerts, and recruitment opportunities.

Students will be driven to this even by their parents.

Approve the field trip requests for approximately thirty students from Monroe Middle School to participate in a choir performance at Del Mar High School on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
4. DISCUSSION OF PROCESS TO HIRE A NEW SUPERINTENDENT

The Governing Board discussed the process to hire a new superintendent.
