Appointment Process
At the January 15, 2026 Board meeting, Trustee Danielle M. S. Cohen formally announced her resignation as a board member effective January 16, 2026. Trustee Cohen has served the Campbell Union School District (CUSD) Board since 2004. The Board made the decision to move forward with a provisional appointment rather than hold a costly special election.

The Governing Board will conduct interviews and select the provisional appointee prior to March 17, 2026. The new Board Member will serve as a member of the Governing Board until the seat is filled by election in November 2026. The appointment term expires the second Friday in December 2026.

Will there be an information meeting about being a Board Member and the Brown Act?
Yes, a training will be held by the Lozano Smith Law Firm on Tuesday, February 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the District Office - 155 N. Third Street, Campbell, CA 95008.
If I am selected by the Board, when do I take office and when do I run for election?
The Board anticipates making a selection on March 5, 2026. The new member will attend their first full Board meeting on March 12, 2026 after they are sworn into office. The Board member will serve the remainder of the term until November, 2026, at which time an election will be held for a new term. Please note, while this vacancy is being filled at-large, all elections for Board members in 2026 will be held by-trustee area.

Serving on the school board can be a valuable and satisfying way to make a significant contribution to the community. The Board, staff, parent and student community have enjoyed a collegial relationship. As public officials, Board members do have to comply with certain restrictions not encountered in their private lives. Upon assuming office, a Board member must file a Statement of Economic Interest which is a public document that discloses the Board member’s financial holdings and other economic interests within the boundaries of the District (excluding a personal residence). Board members must restrain from Board activities which constitute a conflict of interest or which are incompatible with their role as Board member.
