As autumn arrives and the leaves begin to turn across our campuses, October brings an exciting rhythm of academic progress, community connections, and seasonal traditions across Campbell Union School District. Here is a look at key dates, events, and focus areas for CUSD students and families this month:

1. Parent-Teacher Conferences and Shortened Days

• Dates: Monday, October 5 – Friday, October 9
• What to Expect: October begins with dedicated time for parents and guardians to partner directly with educators. Early dismissal schedules will be in effect all week to accommodate individual parent-teacher conferences. This is a valuable opportunity to review your child’s academic goals, celebrate early wins, and align on strategies and goals to support their learning throughout the school year.

2. Professional Development Day (No School)

• Date: Monday, October 12
• What to Expect: There will be no school for students on Monday, October 12. CUSD educators and staff will gather for a district-wide Professional Development Day dedicated to refining instructional strategies, supporting student wellbeing, and collaborating on learning standards.

3. Community and Board Governance

Our advisory councils and Board of Trustees meet regularly to drive district initiatives and support our school communities:

• Superintendent Parent Advisory Council Meeting: Monday, October 5, 9:00 a.m.– 11:00 a.m.
• CUSD Governing Board Meeting: Thursday, October 15, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
• Please check school calendars as many of the sites have ELAC, School Site Council, and various other community meetings scheduled throughout the month.

4. Fall Festivities and Spirit Days

As we head toward the end of the month, individual school sites across the district will host seasonal activities, fall festivals, PTA/PTO events, and campus costume parades.

• Check Your Site Calendar: Be sure to check your specific school site’s weekly newsletter or website calendar for site-specific costume rules, fall event times, and volunteer opportunities.

• Attendance Matters: As cooler weather approaches, maintaining consistent attendance remains vital to student growth. If your child must miss school due to illness, please remember to notify your school site’s attendance office as early as possible.
• Stay Connected: Ensure your contact details are updated in the parent portal so you don't miss site-level announcements or emergency updates.
